Malaysia's unemployment rate dropped to 4.8% in second quarter, says Saravanan


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's unemployment rate has dropped to 4.8% in the second quarter of this year, says Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.

"Based on the latest labour survey by the Statistics Department, the unemployment figures had dropped by 0.3 percentage points to 4.8% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to 5.1% in the second quarter of 2020," he said in reply to a question from Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (BN-Machang) during the Ministers' Question Time.
