Grilles on windows may have prevented fire victims from escaping, says Fire Dept

KOTA KINABALU: Security grilles on the windows may have been a factor in the death of a family of four when their home in Kg Hungab, Penampang near here was destroyed by fire early Tuesday (Sept 7) morning.

The victims – Matthew Wong, 50, his wife Jecky Vun Kon Fung, 47, and their children Brendan, 18, and Eric, 15 – were found dead on the upper level of the house.
