Hadi, Tiong, Richard Riot to continue as special envoys


PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Datuk Sri Richard Riot remain as Malaysia’s special envoys, says the Prime Minister’s Office.

“The first Cabinet meeting held on Sept 1 has agreed to continue with the appointment of Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang as the special envoy to the Middle East, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing as special envoy to China and Datuk Seri Richard Riot as special envoy to East Asia,” it said on Thursday (Sept 2).

Hadi, who is PAS president and Marang MP, was appointed to the post on April 2 last year while Tiong - Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president and Bintulu MP - was appointed on April 20, 2020.

Riot, who is Serian MP, became the special envoy to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan in May last year.

The special envoy positions are of ministerial rank.
