'Social experiment' lands couple in jail

KLANG: A married couple have been arrested over a purported "social experiment" of entering a few shops without being fully vaccinated.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli said the couple, aged 35 and 36 years old, respectively, were detained at a house in Bandar Putera 2 at about 5pm Monday (Aug 23)

"We are investigating under Section 269 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 22 (b) of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act 1988 and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communication Commission Act," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 24).

He urged the public to comply with all Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the virus.
