Police record Ebit Lew’s statement in sexual harassment case probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have recorded the statement of celebrity preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, better known as Ebit Lew to assist investigations in a sexual harassment case.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said Ebit’s statement was recorded at the federal police headquarters yesterday.

“We recorded his statement to assist investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences At 1955 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1988.

“We will carry on with the investigations and refer the matter to the Attorney General’s Chambers once it is completed,” he said yesterday.

Comm Abd Jalil urged all parties not to speculate on the case as it might jeopardise the investigation.

“We also advise the public not to post any items that might hamper the investigation,” he added.

Ebit claimed he was called up to Bukit Aman to assist an ongoing investigation of slander against him.

“I was at the Bukit Aman D11 in my capacity as a witness to assist the investigation into allegations and gossip against me.

“I will leave it to the police to investigate the matter further,” he told reporters.
