‘1MDB paid firm to improve perception of fund’

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court was told that 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) had paid Bloomberg, a privately-held media company, to list one of its funds to improve poor public perception of the investment portfolio.

Former 1MDB CEO Mohd Hazem Abd Rahman agreed to suggestions by Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lawyer, Tania Scivetti, that listing the Bridge Global Absolute Return Fund (BGARF) on Bloomberg would improve issues surrounding the legitimacy of the fund’s portfolio.
