Ahmad Sarji admitted to ICU due to Covid-19


PETALING JAYA: Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid has been admitted to the intensive care unit due to complications from Covid-19.

The former chief secretary to the government was admitted to the Hospital Cancelor Tuanku Muhriz (UKM) in Cheras.

The Professional Golfers' Association of Malaysia (PGAM) confirmed this in a Facebook Friday (Aug 6).

"PGAM would like everyone to join in prayer for Tun's speedy recovery," it said in a post Friday night.

Ahmad Sarji was the chief secretary to the government from 1990 to 1996, during the administration of the fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

After retiring, he was appointed chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) and chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
