PETALING JAYA: Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad has resigned.
The Wanita Umno chief said based on a decision made by the Umno supreme council on Aug 3, she has agreed with the party’s decision to resign from her post as Higher Education Minister.
“As the Wanita Umno chief, I agree to resign from my post with immediate effect as Cabinet minister.
“The party’s decisions will be implemented when Parliament reconvenes.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Higher Education Minister in the government.
“We have tried to do our best in managing the country’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, which is affecting human life across the world.
“I will continue this effort even if I am no longer a federal Cabinet minister,” she said in a statement Friday (Aug 6).
She thanked everyone in the higher education sector for their assistance.
Noraini was appointed on March 10, 2020, by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
