Dewan Negara special meeting from Aug 3-5 postponed until further notice

PETALING JAYA: The special meeting of the Dewan Negara, scheduled from Tuesday (Aug 3) to Thursday (Aug 5) has been postponed until further notice, says Dewan Negara secretary Muhammad Sujairi Abdullah.

This comes after the special Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday (Aug 2) was postponed indefinitely due to the risk of Covid-19 transmission in Parliament House.

In a notice to MPs issued on Saturday (July 31), Dewan Rakyat secretary Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin said Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun was informed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin of the postponement of the special sitting in accordance with the advice of Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said on Sunday (Aug 1) that the decision to postpone the sitting had nothing to do with politics and was made based on science and health data.
