#Lawan protesters disperse following police instructions

KUALA LUMPUR: Protesters have begun to disperse at the #Lawan rally at the intersection between Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Tun Perak here.

This comes as the organisers are complying with an instruction from Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, who ordered the crowd to disperse at 12.30pm on Saturday (July 31).

Earlier, protesters had been seen marching from the Masjid Jamek LRT station towards Dataran Merdeka.

No untoward incidents occurred and the police were on standby to ensure the safety of protesters and motorists, and a police helicopter can also be seen hovering over the passing procession.

Many of the protesters were seen wearing black attire with some of them waving black flags as well.

The protesters were forced to gather at the Jalan Raja-Jalan Tun Perak junction as the police had cordoned off Dataran Merdeka before being asked to disperse.
