#Lawan protest gets underway as crowd marches toward Dataran Merdeka

KUALA LUMPUR: Protestors have begun marching from the Masjid Jamek LRT station toward Dataran Merdeka.

They can be heard chanting slogans demanding the current government to step down.

No untoward incidents have occurred so far and the police are on standby to ensure the safety of protestors and motorists.

Many of the protestors are wearing black attire with some of them waving black flags as well.

A police helicopter can also be seen hovering over the passing procession.

Police have cordoned off Dataran Merdeka and the crowd is now gathering at the Jalan Raja-Jalan Tun Perak junction.

More to come.
