Johor cops nab 42-year-old man over alleged rape of 11-year-old girl at orphanage

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl at an orphanage near the city area here.

It is learnt that the suspect, who works as a helper at the orphanage, was arrested by police at a house in Taman Sri Tebrau here at around 9pm on Sunday (July 25).

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain, who confirmed the case, said that police were notified about the incident on Saturday (July 24) at 3.17pm.

“A worker at the orphanage lodged a report with the police that a child living at the home had been raped.

“Following investigations, police arrested the suspect to help investigations into the matter,” he said Wednesday (July 28).

ACP Padzli, however, declined to elaborate further on the matter as the case was still being investigated.

He added the suspect was under remand for seven days until Aug 1 and the crime is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
