Three charged with abusing two brothers

JOHOR BARU: A babysitter and two of her family members have been charged in the Sessions Court here for allegedly abusing two brothers under their care.

The accused, Fazelina Mohd Lias, 37, her husband, Mansor Saat, 57, and her 13-year-old niece pleaded not guilty when the charges were read in front of judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.

The trio allegedly mistreated the two-year-old and three-year-old toddlers, causing them to suffer physical injuries.

They allegedly committed the offence at about 3pm on June 10 this year in Taman Bukit Kempas here.

They can face a fine not exceeding RM20,000 or a jail term of up to 20 years, or both, upon conviction.

Judge Ahmad Fuad set bail at RM8,000 each for the couple and RM1,500 for their niece with one surety each. They were also told not to contact the victims or their family.He also set Augt 22 for next mention of the case.

The three accused posted bail.

In a separate court, a Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) assistant economic affairs officer claimed trial to four charges of falsifying documents in relation to the orders of pineapple seed amounting to RM41,025.

The accused, Hasren Amat Sibani, 40, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read in front of judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Ariffin Ismail at the Johor Baru Sessions Court here.

He is accused of deceiving MPIB through the order document for the supply of pineapple seeds which contained false information as seeds were not supplied as claimed.

Hasren allegedly committed the offence between April and December 2015 at the Pontian MPIB office.
