All staff vaccinated by the time schools reopen on Sept 1, says KJ

PUTRAJAYA: All school staff will be vaccinated by the time schools reopen on Sept 1, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said efforts are being made to ensure that the school environment is safe when it reopens.

He said that close collaboration with the Education Ministry is being done to ensure not just teachers are vaccinated in anticipation of the reopening of schools.

“We are also looking at vaccinating support staff and those working at schools such as cleaners, canteen operators, security guards and bus drivers.

“We are working very hard on that to ensure the school environment is safe once schools are reopened.

“We will have an update on this next week,” he said on Friday (July 23).

On July 17, the Education Ministry announced that schools would reopen in stages for face-to-face classes from Sept 1.
