Former Bertam rep Zabariah Abdul Wahab passes away at age 73


SUNGAI PETANI: Former Bertam assemblyman Zabariah Abdul Wahab has passed away at the age of 73.

She died at Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim at about 9.30am on Thursday (July 22), while seeking treatment at the hospital.

Kepala Batas MP Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said he was heartbroken when he heard about the matter.

"She was like a mother to me, I pray that Allah will forgive her and place her among the faithful," he said in his Facebook post.

Zabariah, who is former state Wanita Umno chief, was said to have been admitted since July 11 at the hospital due to pneumonia.

She will be laid to rest at Taman Kelisa Muslim Cemetery in Sungai Petani at 11.30am on Friday (July 23).

In the 12th General Election, she defeated PKR's Noorsiah Arshad by a majority of 2,652 votes.
