Steering system failure may be cause of tanker, cargo ship collision

JOHOR BARU: A steering system failure is suspected to be the cause of a collision between a bulk carrier and a cargo ship at Sungai Muar near here.

Johor MMEA director First Admiral Nurul Hizam Zakaria said that Malta-registered bulk carrier, MV Galapagos, was reported to have experienced steering system failure, causing it to move to the right and block the route of Great Britain-registered cargo ship, MV Zephyr Lumos.
