Covid-19: Over 13,000 workers jabbed under Selvax to date, with 2.9 million signed up

PETALING JAYA: More than 13,000 workers have been inoculated so far under the Selangor government’s Covid-19 vaccination programme, Selvax, with 2.9 million employees from 62,000 companies signed up to date.

The two-pronged programme comprises Selvax Community and Selvax Industry.

Selvax Industry is open to companies and industries willing to bear the cost of participation which has been set at RM350 per employee for both doses of vaccine, said state Investment, Industry and Commerce Committee chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim at a virtual press conference on Monday (July 5).

"Industries in the manufacturing and services sectors will be given priority," he said.

The initial phase of Selvax Industry began on June 26.

“On June 15, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force Selangor had agreed that Selvax be accepted as one of the supporting programmes to the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK)," he added.

Teng said participating companies and industries had to meet certain criteria, namely: Selvax Industry is not open to individuals; the company or employer must bear the cost; and they cannot impose any fees or charges on employees.

“Those participating in Selvax Industry are also not allowed to resell appointment slots to other companies or individuals.

“Vaccination is by appointment only, and walk-ins are not allowed," Teng added.

On July 1, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that those registered under the programme would be given CoronaVac (manufactured by Sinovac Biotech), which was chosen because it was easier to store.

Vaccination centres (PPVs) that have been set up for Selvax Industry are Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara 2; Evo Mall in Bandar Baru Bangi; Hotel DePalma in Shah Alam; Kompleks Sukan PKNS in Kelana Jaya; and Aurora Place in Bukit Jalil.

Companies that have registered their interest in Selvax Industry will be given price quotations. Once they make full payment, these companies will be instructed to upload the list of their employees and appointments will then be given out via the Selangkah app, Teng said.

At the same time, he said, the vaccination process will also be implemented through workplace vaccinations (subject to the suitability of a location) and also at Selcare panel clinics.

Vaccination rate capacity in the PPVs and these additional locations will add up to 40,000 doses per day, Teng added.

The Selvax Industry programme is expected to continue until the end of October.
