Covid-19: 6,982 new cases, Selangor remains top with 2,907

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has confirmed 6,982 new Covid-19 cases in the country on Friday (July 2).

Selangor remained the state with the highest number of infections, logging 2,907 fresh cases.

Kuala Lumpur is second highest with 637, cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (606), Johor (517), Sarawak (440), Penang (351), Pahang (329), Kedah (257), Sabah (230), Melaka (209), Perak (182), Labuan (131), Kelantan (129), Terengganu (44) and Putrajaya (20).

Perlis recorded zero new cases.

Cumulatively, Malaysia has recorded 765,949 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

The country also reported 73 new fatalities, taking the death toll to 5,327.

The number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) is currently at 905, with 443 on ventilator support.

In the same 24-hour span, 6,278 patients were discharged from treatment.

Total recoveries is now 694,538 or 90.67% of all cases.

Active Covid-19 cases in the country has now gone up to 66,084.
