PETALING JAYA: Children above the age of 12 can register for Covid-19 vaccination through the MySejahtera app following the government’s recent decision to begin inoculating the young.
A check with the MySejahtera app showed that parents will now be able to add their children as vaccine dependants by clicking the “Add Vaccine Dependent” option under the “Vaccination” category.
Previously, the MySejahtera app only allowed families to register dependants who are above 18.
However, the details of a child registered as a dependant cannot be used to register the individual again on a different MySejahtera account.
On June 15, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Drug Control Authority (DCA) of Malaysia had approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for those aged 12 and above.
Two days later, Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) had agreed to the ministry’s proposal to prioritise the vaccination of students sitting for major examinations this year.
