Covid-19: 6,440 new cases on Friday (June 18)


PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s Covid-19 daily case figures rose by 6,440 new cases on Friday (June 18), the Health Ministry announced.

In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported that Selangor has 2,095 new cases - the highest in the country.

This is followed by Negri Sembilan (870 cases), Kuala Lumpur (816), Johor (592), Sarawak (536), Perak (357), Melaka (223), Kelantan (200), Kedah (159), Labuan (152), Penang (122), Pahang (79), Terengganu (32), Putrajaya (6) and Perlis (2).

The country’s cumulative cases have now gone up to 685,204.

In the 24 hours span up to noon on Friday, 74 people died from Covid-19 in the country.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll now stands at 4,276.

At present, there are 894 patients under intensive care treatment with 451 on ventilator support.

In the same period, 6,861 patients were discharged from treatment and observation.

Since the pandemic began, 615,326 people in Malaysia have recovered from Covid-19.

Currently, there are 65,602 active Covid-19 cases nationwide.
