Khairy: Overcrowding at WTCKL on Saturday (May 29) caused by shortened operation time

PETALING JAYA: A shortened operation time was the cause of overcrowding at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) vaccine administration centre on Saturday (May 29), says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme said vaccine appointment slots were usually slated until 9pm.

However, on Saturday (May 29), the operation time at WTCKL in the system was shortened.

"It was a mistake and that was why overcrowding happened.

"When we learnt that many people had turned up, the problem was immediately rectified," he said during a press conference on Sunday (May 30).

Videos of the venue on Saturday (May 29) showing huge crowds and the lack of physical distancing at the WTCKL vaccine administration centre went viral on social media, with many Malaysians lamenting the situation.
