Kelantan to get 40,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine on Thursday (May 27)

KOTA BHARU (Bernama): Kelantan will receive 40,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine on Thursday (May 27), says Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.

He said the supply of the vaccine is in addition to that for the second phase as well as in preparation for the third phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme at the Kelantan level.

"This supply is to be given to 20,000 vaccine recipients for the immunisation programme," he said on Tuesday (May 25).

Asked on delivery of Sinovac vaccines to Kelantan in June, Dr Zaini said they have yet to receive information on the quantity.

On Monday (May 24), Kelantan Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said the state would receive a large quantity of Sinovac vaccines and hoped residents would seize this opportunity by registering as vaccine recipients.

On the same day, Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin had said the 10,000 who missed their vaccination appointments were mostly aged 60 and above.

He told Berita Harian said some of those who failed to show up had to deal with personal problems but there were also others who did not give any reason for not coming to vaccination centres.

He also said his department would contact other individuals to replace those who could not come and get their vaccines to avoid wastage.- Bernama
