Second round of AstraZeneca opt-in bookings for senior citizens still available

PETALING JAYA: Bookings for the second round of the voluntary AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in registration for those aged 60 and above are still widely available as of Monday (May 24).

A check by The Star showed that bookings at the World Trade Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) vaccine dispensing centre are still available from June 8 onwards, while slots are still available from June 16 onwards at Universiti Malaya.

In Selangor, those who are interested can register a spot from June 23 onwards at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

In a post on Instagram, the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee (JKJAV) said that the AstraZeneca vaccination programme at the Ideal City Convention Centre Shah Alam will begin on Monday (May 24).

Free parking is provided at the 4th to 6th floors together with a special drop off point for disabled passengers, said JKJAV.

The public has been reminded to be punctual but not to arrive too early, at most 30 minutes before their appointment time.

Meanwhile, Fahmi Hassan said on Twitter that there are still plenty of slots for the AstraZeneca vaccine

"Now, there are 1.24 million doses. There is a big chance that it might be open to those below 60 years old," he claimed.

The voluntary programme - which will be on a first-come, first-served opt-in basis for seniors in the Klang Valley, Johor, Penang and Sarawak - will see a total of 1.24 million doses of the vaccine being offered.

During the first round of the voluntary opt-in for AstraZeneca, which was made available only to Klang Valley residents, all 268,000 slots were fully booked in less than four hours.
