Covid-19: 4,446 new cases, Selangor tops list with 1,650 infections


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 4,446 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (May 17), bringing the cumulative total to 474,556, according to the Health Ministry.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor has the highest number of infections at 1,650 followed by Sarawak (433) and Johor (391).

Kelantan recorded 343 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur (297), Negri Sembilan (243), Kedah (236), Perak (203), Terengganu (201), Penang (159), Pahang (139), Melaka (80), Sabah (60), and Putrajaya (11). Labuan and Perlis did not have any new cases.

Meanwhile, there were 45 deaths, bringing the death toll to 1,947.

There were also 2,784 recoveries, which means 429,103 have recovered from the disease nationwide.

A total of 43,506 active cases were recorded with 522 patients in intensive care units, while 273 require ventilator support.
