Covid-19: 3,780 new cases, Selangor leads with 1,275


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,780 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (May 16), bringing the cumulative total to 470,110.

In a tweet, the Health Ministry said of the figure, 3,780 were local infections while two were imported cases.

There were another 36 fatalities, bringing the country's death toll to 1,902.

It also said there were 3,990 recoveries for a total of 426,319 to date.

The number of active cases is now 41,889.

Of this number, 520 are in intensive care units (ICU), with 272 requiring ventilator support.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 1,275, followed by Sarawak (405), Kedah (363) and Kelantan (357).

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur (342), Johor (224), Penang (187), Pahang (159), Melaka (122), Perak (115), Sabah (87), Terengganu (58), seven each for Labuan and Putrajaya and Perlis (two).
