IPOH: Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has urged the people to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri under the new norm.

Sultan Nazrin said the people should adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures while celebrating with their family members and loved ones.

“There are about 160 million infections and about 3.5 million deaths all around the world.

“Therefore, this Hari Raya, let’s celebrate by maintaining physical distancing, minimise visits and don’t gather in large groups so we can break the chain, ” he said in his Hari Raya message on Thursday (May 13).

Sultan Nazrin said since the outbreak, many have lost their loved ones, source of income and jobs.

“The world economy continues to be affected while folk are also getting poorer by the day.

“Therefore, those who are lucky, protected by Illahi (God) from the disease and are still blessed with livelihoods must be thankful and to help those who are affected, ” he said.

His Royal Highness also reminded the people to remember the frontliners' hard work and efforts in combating Covid-19.

“It has been over a year since our frontliners, especially the doctors, nurses and medical assistants have worked relentlessly, dealing with fatigue and risks while saving lives, ” he said.

Together with Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Sultan Nazrin also thanked those who are working dutifully during the celebration.

"We want to extend our gratitude towards those in various services such as the security forces, policemen, army, firefighters, prison staff, Immigration, Customs and those in the transportation and services sector.

“We also like to thank the media personnel, radio and television staff," he said.

"May their services be accepted by Allah as good deeds and be blessed not only in this world but also in the hereafter, ” he added.
