Woman claims inter-state travel application to send sick dad to hospital rejected, cops probing viral post

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating a viral post by a woman, who claimed that she was prohibited from travelling inter-state to send her ailing father to the hospital.

Cheras Deputy OCPD Supt Annas Sulaiman said the woman claimed that she had applied for inter-state travel so that she could send her father to a dialysis centre in Nilai, Negri Sembilan.

"She also said that she had provided several documents such as a letter confirming her father's dialysis appointment and her father's disabled card but her application was rejected.

"She then expressed her disappointment via her social media account, saying the police were inhumane.

"She also expressed her sadness as the incident caused her father's death on April 28," he said in a statement on Friday (April 30).

Supt Annas said further checks on her inter-state travel applications showed that the woman made four applications and all were approved.

"She had applied on Jan 15 for the purpose of sending her father to Hospital Mawar in Seremban as well as another application to travel to Melaka for family purposes on Feb 11.

"She also applied to travel to Melaka for a job interview on April 26 and to travel to Nilai, Negri Sembilan on April 28 due to her father's death," he said.

Supt Annas said a check on Salak Selatan police station's MySejahtera application and visitor log book showed that she did not register through both mediums on April 17.

"Therefore, there was no record of her inter-state travel application on that date.

"On the allegation of rough demeanour by police personnel, we are still investigating it," he added.
