PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,788 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (April 30), bringing its cumulative total to 408,713 infections.
In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor has the highest number of new cases, with 1,265 infections.
Eight other states have three digit cases - Sarawak with 760 new cases, Kelantan with 464, Kuala Lumpur (255), Penang (250), Johor (160), Negri Sembilan (136), Kedah (136) and Perak (118).
Two of Friday’s cases are imported infections, while the rest are local transmissions.
Another 14 people died due to Covid-19 in the country.
This takes Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll up to 1,506, or at a rate of 0.37%.
There were 2,640 patients who were discharged on the same day.
Total recoveries are now up to 377,980.
The number of active cases has gone up to 29,227.
Of that total, 328 are currently under intensive care treatment.
There are 161 patients receiving ventilator support.
