KUALA LUMPUR: An 83-year-old man suffered burns on his hand and body after his Taman Duta house caught fire on Monday (April 26).
City Fire and Rescue Department senior operations commander Mohd Hafizan Hassan said in a statement that they received a distress call over the incident at around 4.02pm on Monday.
"We dispatched 38 personnel to the scene with fire engines, a water tanker, emergency medical rescue services and a rapid intervention motorcycle from the Sentul, Titiwangsa, Hartamas and Taman Tun Dr Ismail fire stations, ” said Mohd Hafizan.
"When we arrived, we found a two-storey bungalow and four vehicles on fire," he added.
He said that at least 80% of the area was burnt.
Mohd Hafizan added that they used offensive and defensive fire fighting techniques to control and prevent the fire from spreading.
"We managed to control the blaze by 5.01pm," he said adding that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
