Perak GLC director detained for alleged abuse of power released on MACC bail


IPOH: A Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) Perak director under remand for alleged abuse of power was released on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail here on Monday (April 26).

The 50-year-old director was remanded after he allegedly appointed a company in which he had an interest to carry out work for SPNB amounting to RM95,000.

Ipoh Magistrate's Court Assistant Registrar Noor Azna Tajul Anuar ordered him to be released on bail after a six-day remand.

Noor Azna set bail at RM20,000 with one surety.

MACC Perak director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad confirmed the release and said its investigation, under Section 23 of the MACC Act, had been completed.

The director was arrested at 1.25pm on April 20 and his statement was taken at Perak MACC headquarters in Meru Raya here.
