IPOH: A family here is living in fear after their cars were splashed with yellow paint in an early morning incident.
Factory worker Chow Kah Wei, 32, said the vandalism happened at her home in Taman Impiana Adril, Menglembu, at about 3.30am on Sunday (April 18).
“On the night of the incident, everyone was at home, including my elderly parents and our children.
We have no idea why this is happening since we have not borrowed any money from loan sharks nor do we have problems with anyone, ” said Chow.
"I am really worried for my family's safety. The paint was splashed on two cars, mine and my mother's," she added at a press conference organised by Menglembu assemblyman Steven Chaw at the Perak DAP headquarters here on Monday (April 19).
Chow said she then checked her neighbour’s surveillance camera, which recorded the incident.
"We saw a man carrying a plastic bag, believed to be the paint. We couldn’t see his face clearly but he was wearing a T-shirt and short pants, ” she said, adding that her family has been staying at the house for five years.
Chaw said he would try to get the police and the local community policing group to hold more patrols in the residential area.
He said there have been three or four similar cases reported in the area in the last six months.
“The families are unsure if this is the work of a loan shark since the paint is not red and no notes were left behind. They are living in fear now, afraid that the perpetrator might return. Hopefully the police will monitor the area regularly to prevent it from recurring," he said.
