MetMalaysia issues typhoon advisory

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an advisory on Typhoon Surigae, which is located 1,412km northeast of Sandakan, Sabah.

In a statement Saturday (April 17), MetMalaysia said the typhoon was located about 477km to the north east of Tacloban in the Philippines.

It also said that based on observation at 8pm, it was moving north-west with a speed of 20km/h and could reach a maximum speed of 203km/h.

MetMalaysia, however, said the typhoon would not have a significant impact on Malaysia. – Bernama
