Home Minister: Govt to issue order on use of the word 'Allah'

PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry will issue an order on the use of the word "Allah", says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

He said the order will be made under the power of the Home Minister and will be according to the Federal Constitution.

"We have discussed with religious groups, academicians and experts representing Muslims and non-Muslims.

"The common understanding here is that all want the issue to be resolved so that this will not cause disunity and discomfort among Malaysians, including those in Sabah and Sarawak," added Hamzah when speaking to reporters on Thursday (April 15).

This is the second round-table discussion held with religious groups after the High Court ruled on March 10 that the word "Allah" can be used by Christians in their publications in the country.
