Man nabbed after car crashes in attempt to evade cops in Seremban

SEREMBAN: A 29-year-old man who was with his girlfriend was arrested for failing to stop his car when ordered to by the police.

He is now being probed for the offence as well as several prior traffic and drug offences.

Seremban OCPD ACP Mohd Said Ibrahim said policemen on patrol ordered the suspect to stop near Taman Bukit Chedang around 4pm on Tuesday (April 13) but he sped off instead.

"The patrol unit sought assistance and three other units joined in the pursuit.

"In his haste to escape, the suspect ran through a red traffic light, made an illegal U-turn and grazed the side mirror of another car," he said in a statement.

ACP Mohd Said said the suspect lost control of his car and crashed along Jalan Persiaran Utama in Seremban 2.

His 29-year-old girlfriend was also in the car.

"A urine test on the suspect also came back positive for methamphetamine," he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded until Thursday (April 15).

ACP Mohd Said said that the suspect would be investigated for violating the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing policemen from carrying out their duties and section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for consuming drugs.

The suspect's girlfriend was also remanded but released on Wednesday.
