KLANG: A united Perikatan Nasional will have the strength to wrest Selangor from Pakatan Harapan in the next general election, says Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
"Our chances of taking over the Selangor government are very promising and we are certain the various programmes and activities we are conducting in the state will help us win in Selangor, '' said the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia information chief after chairing a dialogue session with Bersatu leaders and grassroots representatives at a hotel here on Sunday (March 28).
He added Perikatan had been making preparations to take over Selangor for a long time.
Although Bersatu's relationship with Umno is shaky at the moment, Wan Saiful said that ties with PAS were still strong.
He added both PAS and Bersatu shared the same agenda, which was to be on good terms with all partner parties and to serve the people.
Wan Saiful said although Bersatu wants the Perikatan coalition to continue, his party was prepared to slug it out on its own.
He also urged all Perikatan partners to think rationally and ask if they truly wanted to go against each other and open a route for PKR and DAP to make a return to Putrajaya.
He said they would attempt another talk with Umno to discuss the importance of continued collaboration between Malay-based parties, saying it would be disastrous if Malay parties go their separate ways.
