Ismail Sabri: 611 nabbed for violating SOP on Sunday (Feb 28)


PETALING JAYA: A total of 611 individuals were nabbed for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) on Sunday (Feb 28), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Of the number, the Senior Minister (Security) said 584 were compounded while 27 were remanded.

Failing to maintain physical distancing topped of the list of violations with 169 cases, followed by failing to provide equipment to record details of customers at 122 cases.

A total of 91 people were arrested for interstate travel, while 90 people were caught for not wearing face masks.

There were also individuals who were caught for engaging in prohibited sports activities (40), entertainment activities (32), operating their premises outside permitted hours (30), leaving home without valid reasons (25) and other violations.

Ismail Sabri added that 47 undocumented migrants were caught, while one sea vessel and eight land vehicles were seized in Op Benteng which is aimed to tighten border control.

“During the operation, authorities also detected 161 sea vessels in the country’s waters and two land vehicles through five scouting operations.

“Besides that, six undocumented migrants were expelled through three operations, ” he said.

He added that 10,963 foreigners had undergone the Covid-19 test on Sunday with 31 testing positive.
