PETALING JAYA: Needy and ill children who require surgery can thank Labuan-based Hans Advisory & Trust Co Ltd for donating RM100,000 to the Star Foundation.

The licensed trust company’s contribution will go towards the foundation’s Medical Fund Programme, initiated in 2015 to sponsor one-off medical treatment and care for underprivileged individuals with chronic illnesses.

Star Foundation, which is the Star Media Group’s charitable arm, was established in 2004 to deliver meaningful initiatives with lasting outcomes to a diverse group of beneficiaries.

Hans Advisory director Mohamad Akbal Mohd Yunos handed the cheque for the amount to SMG and foundation chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow in a simple ceremony at Menara Star here.

Also present was Hans Advisory senior consultant Puteri Norsabirah Jamaludin.

The RM100,000 was Hans Advisory’s initiative to give back to society by funding surgeries for underprivileged and ill children, said Mohamad Akbal.

“We trust Star Foundation has the experience and wisdom to identify people in need (for this programme).

“By giving to them, we hope they will become better citizens and do the same in future, ” he said.

Mohamad Akbal said the donation was part of the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects this year.

It had previously made donations to other establishments, including old folks homes and places of worship.

Hans Advisory offers a full range of services in incorporating Labuan entities, and provides secretarial services to clients, comprising mainly local and international investors who conduct business from or through Labuan.

“Malaysia is a generous country. We are very fortunate and have the luxury to enjoy life, but there are many others who are not so lucky.

“These people deserve to be assisted, ” added Mohamad Akbal.

On behalf of Star Foundation, Fu conveyed his appreciation to Hans Advisory for its generous contribution to the foundation, specifically the medical fund programme.

“Since inception, we have contributed about RM19.8mil to NGOs, old folks homes, orphanages, training centres for the disabled, the underprivileged and more, ” said Fu.

He said during the pandemic last year, the foundation raised RM2.6mil, including its own RM1mil contribution to support Covid-19 frontliners through close liaison with the Health Ministry.
