Cook killed after car crashes into eatery in Kampar


IPOH: A 59-year-old cook at an eatery died after a car crashed into the shop in Kampar.

Identified as Wong Kwai Yung, the woman from Station Road, Kampar died on the spot due to head injuries.

Kampar OCPD Supt Hasron Nazri Hisham said another 50-year-old cook sustained light injuries on her shoulder and leg during the 9.40am incident on Tuesday (Feb 23).

He said the driver of the car, a 54-year-old disabled man from Klang, Selangor was trying to park his car in front of the shop in Jalan Batu Sinar when he accidentally pressed onto the oil pedal.

“He was parking the car there to buy food from the shop when the car went forward and crashed into the two women.

“The victim died on the spot while the other cook was rushed to Kampar Hospital for treatment.

“The driver and his 42-year-old passenger were not injured during the incident, and fortunately, some customers who were seated inside the shop were not harmed as well, ” he added.

The body of the victim has been sent to Kampar Hospital for a post-mortem.

The case, Supt Hasron said, is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
