PUTRAJAYA: Gerakan’s entry into Perikatan Nasional will strengthen the coalition’s credentials as a multiracial grouping of political parties, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Gerakan’s admission into Perikatan is highly welcomed. I believe this move will strengthen Perikatan as a coalition of parties that represents all races and regions in Malaysia.
“Perikatan will remain committed towards building Malaysia into a peaceful, developed, prosperous and stable nation, ” the Prime Minister said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Feb 11).
Muhyiddin held a ceremony on Thursday afternoon with Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau to formally accept the party as a member of Perikatan.
He said Gerakan’s entry received unanimous endorsement from Perikatan’s supreme council.
Gerakan joins Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, PAS, Sabah Star and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) as members of the coalition.
