Ismail Sabri: Authorities drawing up Chinese New Year SOP

PUTRAJAYA: Authorities are busy drafting the standard operating procedure for Chinese New Year celebrations, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister (Security) said the Health and National Unity ministries would hold further discussions about this with the National Security Council.

"They are preparing the SOP. Once it is ready, we will make it known to the public, " he said.

Ismail Sabri also said they had received appeals from certain business sectors to be allowed to reopen.

He said that the NSC technical committee, health authorities and relevant ministries would look into these issues.

"They are responsible for risk assessments and will make their proposal to the NSC special meeting if these businesses can reopen," he said on Tuesday (Feb 2).

Among the types of businesses closed are car wash services as well as hairdressers and barbers.

Ismail Sabri said that all appeals would be looked into with advice from health authorities.

The MCO has been extended nationwide from Feb 5 to Feb 18 except for Sarawak, which remain under a conditional MCO.
