PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 590 people for violating various movement control order standard operating procedures.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said other violations include not wearing face masks in crowded public places, not practising social distancing and not recording customers’ details.
The task force monitoring SOPs carried out 51,939 checks nationwide on Monday (Jan 18).
On Ops Benteng, he said 18 undocumented migrants were arrested and authorities also seized 12 land vehicles.
“Let it be reminded that we will continue to take stern action against foreigners attempting to enter into the country, ” he said on Tuesday (Jan 19).
Ismail Sabri also said that on Monday, 349 people had returned to Malaysia and were sent to observe quarantine in various government-designated stations.
He said to date, 172,248 foreign workers had been screened for Covid-19, involving 6,448 employers.
