Food outlets and shops to open from 6am to 8pm in MCO areas

PUTRAJAYA: Operating hours for food outlets, sundry shops and convenience stores in movement control order (MCO) areas will be from 6am to 8pm beginning Wednesday (Jan 13), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The eating outlets include restaurants, food courts, kiosks and hawkers.

He reminded operators that while food outlets are allowed to operate, services can only be provided for takeaways and deliveries.

Hospitals and clinics are allowed to open 24 hours while pharmacies can open from 6am to 8pm daily.

"The operating hours for petrol stations are between 6am and 10pm but outlets along highways are given permission to provide round-the-clock service, ” he said in his briefing on Tuesday (Jan 12).

Wet markets and pasar tani can operate from 7am to 2pm while pet stores and veterinary clinics are open from 6am to 8pm.

Laundry services, with the exception of self-service laundry - which is not allowed to operate during MCO - are from 6am to 8pm.

Ismail Sabri said for areas under conditional MCO, existing standard operating procedures apply, with the exception of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition activities, which are now not allowed.

As for recovery MCO in Sarawak and Perlis, existing SOPs also remain.

“However, inter-state travel is not allowed in these states. So people from, say, Perlis, cannot travel to Kedah during this period, ” said Ismail Sabri.
