Covid-19: Eleven new clusters detected, 261 active currently


PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has detected 11 new Covid-19 clusters, bringing the total number of those still active to 261.

Seven of the clusters are in the Klang Valley, with three in Selangor, four in Kuala Lumpur and one in Putrajaya, with five of them linked to workplaces.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said the Jalan Manan cluster in Klang, Selangor, has 83 confirmed cases so far.

Dr Noor Hisham said the cluster is linked to a factory in Jalan Haji Abdul Manan, which is off Jalan Meru in Klang.

The factory had arranged targeted screening of its workers on Jan 12 and 311 people have been tested.

The Persiaran Kuala cluster, which involves factory workers in Kuala Selangor, has 44 positive cases so far.

Dr Noor Hisham said the factory had screened 2,020 individuals so far and positive cases were detected in the Petaling, Klang and Sabak Bernam districts in Selangor.

The Udarama cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, is related to a workers' hostel linked to a security firm.

Dr Noor Hisham said the cluster so far has 21 cases after 134 individuals were tested.

The Iris cluster, which involves workers of a supermarket in Kuala Lumpur, has 11 positive cases so far.

Dr Noor Hisham said the cluster’s name refers to Iris Apartment in Taman Desa, where the index case lives.

The Jalan Kiara cluster in Kuala Lumpur is also linked to a targeted screening on the employees of a supermarket.

Dr Noor Hisham said the cases under the cluster are found in the Mont Kiara locality, and 22 people have tested positive so far.

The Dialisis Batu cluster in Kuala Lumpur is linked to a dialysis centre in Taman Perindustrian IKS in Batu Caves.

Dr Noor Hisham said six cases have been found under the cluster to date, after its index case who developed symptoms tested positive on Jan 5.

The Bukit Sekubong cluster in Bintulu, Sarawak, is linked to a longhouse named Rumah Jilan in Bukit Sekubong, Sebauh.

Dr Noor Hisham said the index case, who resides at the longhouse, had tested positive after developing symptoms on Jan 10.

So far, 21 positive cases under the cluster have been found.

The Kampung Badak cluster in Kelantan originated from an individual who had travelled from Selangor.

Dr Noor Hisham said the index case lives in Kampung Badak in Bachok, and 39 people linked to the cluster have been infected so far.

The Taman Kesedar in Gua Musang, Kelantan has 14 cases found so far.

Dr Noor Hisham said the index case had travelled from Kuala Lumpur and tested positive on Jan 10 after developing symptoms.

The Dialisis Putra cluster is linked to a dialysis centre in Precinct 9, Putrajaya.

Dr Noor Hisham said the cluster has found 10 people who have been infected.

The Permint Harmoni cluster in Kuala Terengganu is linked to a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) patient who tested positive on Jan 7.

Dr Noor Hisham said the cluster’s name refers to the Taman Permint Harmoni residential area in Kuala Terengganu.

So far, eight individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 under the cluster.
