PUTRAJAYA: The enhanced movement control order (MCO) for the Amber Court apartments in Genting Highlands has been extended again as the localities are still deemed as “high risk” by the Health Ministry, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister (Security) said the enhanced MCO period for the area, which was supposed to end on Jan 6, will be continued until Jan 20.
Ismail Sabri said over a thousand residents have been screened by the Health Ministry so far, with 454 testing positive.
“There are some close contacts that still have not undergone their second Covid-19 tests.
“As the locality is still viewed as high risk, the enhanced MCO here has been extended, ” said Ismail Sabri at a press conference Tuesday (June 5).
Besides the Amber Court apartments, Ismail Sabri also announced that the enhanced MCO of the Muar Correctional Rehabilitation Centre will be extended to Jan 20.
The enhanced MCO imposed at the facility was also supposed to be lifted on Jan 6.
Ismail Sabri said some 40 Covid-19 cases have been detected at the centre, with the number of infections still growing.
