PUTRAJAYA: Foreign students studying in private educational centres will be allowed to enter Malaysia from Jan 1.

This comes after the government allowed international students studying in universities and international schools to do so.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the students’ entry to Malaysia would be managed by the Education Malaysia Global Services and are to follow guidelines stipulated by the National Security Council, Immigration Department and also the National Disaster Management Agency.

The permission is for students whose enrollment application into language centres, skills centres, training centres, tuition centres and mind development centres have been approved.

“Students are to obtain visa from the Immigration and must undergo screening for Covid-19 three days before coming to Malaysia,” he said on Thursday (Dec 24).

They are to be screened again upon arrival in Malaysia and will be sent to undergo quarantine and government designated stations.

Costs for Covid-19 screening and quarantine are to be borne by the students.
