Meru assemblyman leaves Amanah for PKR

KLANG: Meru assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar has created a stir in Selangor politics by leaving Parti Amanah Negara and joining PKR.

When contacted, Mohd Fakhrulrazi said he preferred to keep mum at the moment, but would issue a statement soon.

"There is a lot of misunderstanding and confusion going around now and I don't want to add on to it.

"I will issue my official statement soon," he added.

The Meru state seat falls under the Kapar parliamentary constituency.

When contacted, Kapar MP Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said Mohd Fakhrulrazi had already put in his application to join PKR.

"But the PKR leadership is yet to discuss the matter," he added.

Abdullah Sani also said he believed Mohd Fakhrulrazi has also reached out to the Amanah leadership to find out if there were any implications awaiting him for moving out of the party.

However, Abdullah said he did not see anything wrong in the move, as Mohd Fakhrulrazi would still be in Pakatan Harapan.

"He is not leaving Pakatan, and even if he is leaving Amanah, is it to go to another component party," said Abdullah Sani.

Selangor Amanah secretary Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim confirmed the Meru assemblyman's departure from the party in a statement Monday (Nov 16).

Mohd Fakhrulrazi's departure from Selangor Amanah leaves the party with only six seats in the state legislative assembly, as opposed to the eight seats it had won in the last general election.

Amanah had also sacked its Sabak assemblyman Ahmad Mustain Othman in July for allegedly breaching the party's constitution.
