DAP rep Ronnie Liu detained over FB post allegedly insulting to King

PETALING JAYA: DAP's Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu (pic) has been arrested in connection with posts made on social media which allegedly have seditious tendencies toward the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director Deputy Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, when contacted, said Liu was arrested at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters on Wednesday morning (Oct 28).

"The arrest was made to allow us to conduct investigations under Section 4(1) of the Seditious Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

"We will record his statement and release him once all is completed.

"It all depends on the statement given," he said.

Liu arrived at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at around 10.40am.

He is among four individuals being investigated over allegations they insulted the King.

The post that got Liu arrested is believed to be the one on Oct 21 with the heading: "Now In Bangkok, They Are Saying No To The King".
