Zahid misses meeting of party leaders with PM, says unwell

PUTRAJAYA: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) could not attend a meeting with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, this morning as he is unwell.

"I am under the weather and have been having a persistent stomach upset for the past few weeks and again, last night. I'm going to the doctor," he told The Star on Monday (Oct 26).

Zahid said that Umno was represented at the meeting by Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who is also the Barisan Nasional secretary-general.

The absence of Zahid at the meeting had raised questions, including if Umno had boycotted the meeting.

Muhyiddin held a meeting with leaders of Perikatan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional parties at his office this morning.

The meeting was held before he chaired a special Cabinet meeting.

Seen entering the Putra Perdana building which houses the Prime Minister's Office earlier was PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and MIC president Tan Sri S.A Vigneswaran.

Vigneswaran said the meeting with the Prime Minister has just ended.

The Cabinet has convened a special meeting again on Monday where they are expected to discuss the decision by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to not declare a state of emergency.
