MIRI: An 18-year-old woman and 11 others were found operating an online gambling centre during a police raid here on Sunday (Oct 18) night.

The raid was carried out at a house in a Batu Kawa residential estate in Kuching, said Sarawak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Dennis Leong.

He said those arrested were seven women and five men, aged 18 to 28.

"The anti-vice squad from the state police headquarters raided the house and found that the place was being used as a call centre for online gambling.

"Those arrested are locals and foreign nationals.

"We have seized 11 laptops," he said adding that the centre has been operating for about five months.

The centre is believed to have been raking in about RM150,000 per month, he said.

Police are looking to determine the syndicate behind the gambling centre.
