PETALING JAYA: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air has chosen Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as their candidate for Prime Minister, says his political secretary.
Abu Bakar Yahya, in a post on his Facebook page Saturday (Oct 17), said that the party's pro-tem committee had unanimously agreed on the matter.
"We, the members of the party's pro-tem committee, have unanimously decided that Tun M is the Prime Ministerial candidate to replace the current Prime Minister while waiting for the 15th general election if the country wants to be saved," he said in his post.
Four former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia MPs, including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, have submitted notices to Parliament seeking to table a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in the coming Parliament meeting next month.
On Tuesday (Oct 13), PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during which he said he had informed the King that he had a "formidable majority" of support from MPs in his bid to be the next prime minister.
